The IAB launches a new council dedicated to exploring the impact of changes in technology on IAB stakeholders over the next 1,000 days.

The Future Trends Council is a new IAB initiative run by Tim Elkington, the IAB’s Director of Research and Strategy.

With technological advances showing no sign of slowing down, it’s more important than ever for media owners, advertisers and agencies to understand the opportunities offered by these new technologies.

While predicting the future is fraught with danger, the IAB's Future Trends Council will aim to ‘shine a light’ on the path ahead and to provide useful and tangible information that IAB members and the wider industry will find useful.

The Council aims to address four key future facing topics each year – starting with Connected TV in the first quarter of 2012.

Tim Elkington comments: “This is an exciting new venture for the IAB, working together with a wide variety of companies from Skive, to FTI Consulting and Nurago to help provide tangible advice to members and the industry about what changes in technology such as Connected TV mean to consumers and how their impact will change the advertising landscape over the next three years”.

Members of the Future Trends Council were invited to share their thoughts about the most exciting topics that they saw covered at Engage 2011 – Brand New Frontiers.
