Small businesses are planning to begin Christmas marketing campaigns early this year, a survey has found.

Monday, 27 October 2008

Research from Constant Contact has revealed that over half of small businesses in the US have already started promotional activity and that 60 per cent will rely mostly on email marketing for their festive campaigns, compared to just 28 per cent for direct mail and 27 per cent planning to use flyers.

Megan Murphy, co-founder of online retailer Bella, comments: “Our overall marketing strategy has always included email marketing to our existing customers, as they are most likely to shop with us again. Dollar for dollar, it is by far our best method of communication.”

Value for money will be a key concern among retailers this year as the global economic downturn is expected to have an adverse effect on sales.
