Facebook has introduced a new safety page, which will highlight initiatives to keep users of the social networking site safe.Tuesday, 27 July 2010
In a blog on July 26th, Facebook developers explained the new safety page, which is designed to complement the resources available in the safety centre that was launched in April.
Dynamic content will regularly be posted on the page including valuable educational materials from internet security experts and relevant news coverage.
On the Facebook blog it states: "Online safety is a shared responsibility. We'll continue to think of innovative ways to promote safety on our service and elsewhere on the web."
The new page is based on the model of the site's security page, which gives advice about how to keep data safe and has 2.2 million fans.
On April 13th, the safety centre was unveiled and Facebook regularly invites experts to write articles providing tips to parents, educators and teenagers about how to protect themselves online.
Facebook also recently introduced an application that allows young users between 13 and 18 to report any suspicious actions such as inappropriate sexual behaviour.
