Yahoo! adds new Search Assist features

Yahoo! is now displaying new web search boxes, allowing internet users to access the information they need more quickly.

Wednesday, 25 November 2009

The Search Assist features will appear at the top of almost all of the firm's properties, including those for news, sport and finance.

A post on the company's official blog indicates that the new service allows user to find the details they need more directly, such as stock quotes or movie trailers. Enhanced search suggestions are also provided.

"When you type the name of an athlete, like Kobe Bryant, Search Assist shows news, game log, scores, and schedules," the blog states. "You can also see travel information when you type the name of any travel destination."

Last month, David Pann, general manager of search marketing at Yahoo!, commended the company's new search results page, which was launched alongside a new offline and online marketing campaign.

Pann explained that Yahoo! users will now be able to locate the information they require, explore related concepts and filter search results "by specific sites and types of content".
