'A race online', a new white paper from the IAB, outlines the importance of digital inclusion, and advises all IAB members to sign up as partners of Martha Lane Fox's Race Online 2012 initiative.

The paper features an introduction by the UK Digital Champion Martha Lane Fox who explains that after her well publicised car crash she "crawled back out into life by using the web" and calls on IAB member companies to become partners of Race Online 2012.

The paper was written by Stuart Aitken the IAB's editorial manager and features contributions from Microsoft, Google, Three, Mirror Group Newspapers and Sky, who explain why they have signed up to support the campaign and what they're doing on a practical basis to help.

A video interview featuring IAB chairman Richard Eyre and Martha Lane Fox accompanies the White Paper.

Guy Phillipson, chief executive of the IAB comments: "This White Paper and the accompanying video interview with Richard Eyre and Martha Lane Fox is evidence of how strongly the IAB believes in the importance of Race Online 2012. It also marks the first stage of the IAB's commitment to educate its members on the importance of digital inclusion."

There are currently 10 million digitally excluded citizens in the UK. Race Online 2012 was established in 2009 to tackle this issue and aims to create a 100% networked nation by 2012. For more information and to sign up as a partner visit http://raceonline2012.org.
