Amazon has announced that it is finally making its Kindle ebook reader available worldwide later this month.

The online retailer has developed a special version of the popular product, the Kindle DX, which comes with a new global wireless system enabling users to download content on the go.
It is available for preordering now and will officially go on sale on January 19th.
As well as being able to download ebooks, users will also have the ability to access digital versions of popular global newspapers, including the New York Times, the Financial Times and the Times, for a one off fee or as part of an ongoing subscription.
The Kindle DX features a 9.7 inch electronic display, a native PDF reader and storage for up to 3,500 ebooks.
In the US, the Kindle is the bestselling item on Amazon.
"We're excited to be able to offer Kindle DX to customers worldwide so they can carry all of their personal documents, along with their whole library, in one slender package," says Ian Freed, vice president of Amazon Kindle.
The US Consumer Electronics Association predicts that sales of ebook readers will soar over the next few years, reaching 16 million units by 2014, according to the BBC.
