i-level’s head of affiliates enlisted to grow the AMC and develop further best practice.

The IAB Affiliate Council has voted Matt Bailey, head of affiliates at i-level, as its chair for the coming year. As Council chair Bailey will oversee all meetings, act as the group’s official spokesperson and play an integral part in its development in the next 12 months, following a highly productive 2008.
In 2009 the Council aims to build on its work last year in educating the market and developing best practice guidelines and standards for affiliate marketing in the UK, to reinforce its integrity as an effective online discipline. Following on from the launch of an educational online resource www.iabuk.net/affiliatemarketing and the establishment of a Code of Best Practice for online voucher sites, the Council aims to build on this success and expand its offering to help grow the affiliate industry.
Bailey will be responsible for setting the AMC’s objectives for this year which includes developing further best practice initiatives and ensuring that affiliate marketing is sufficiently represented in the IAB/PwC advertising expenditure study, released every 6 months. He succeeds Ben Wood, former managing partner at Vizeum and now UK Managing Director at TradeDoubler, who was responsible for chairing the Council throughout 2008.
The IAB AMC now has 30 members companies, which includes the UK’s leading affiliate networks as well as representation from a mix of publishers, agencies and merchants. The Council was first launched in 2006 in response to a need for greater representation within the industry and educational initiatives to effectively communicate the dynamics of affiliate marketing to UK merchants.
Matt joined i-level in 2008 as Head of Affiliates, directing the strategy of the i-level affiliate offering and working with new and existing clients to explore and maximise opportunities through the affiliate channel. Before this he worked as Affiliate Client Director at DGM, responsible for overseeing the affiliate strategies of all the company’s clients.
Matt Bailey, head of affiliates at i-level and Chair of the IAB Affiliate Council said:” "I'm tremendously excited about the prospect of guiding the AMC through what I think will be a critical and exciting year for affiliate marketing. Building on the excellent achievements of the council in 2008, I foresee more education, promotion and guidance coming over the next year."”
Dan Redfearn, manager of the AMC said: “I'm delighted to welcome Matt to the role of chair. This year is a crucial year for the affiliate industry and Matt brings a fresh and knowledgeable approach to these challenges. His experience both network side and agency will be of great benefit to the council.”
