References to Christmas in email marketing doubled in the US last week as troubled retailers rush to capitalise on the lucrative festive period.
The weekly index released by the Retail Email Blog shows that more than 40 per cent of advertising emails mentioned the holiday season, compared to just over 20 per cent in the previous week.
The research also showed a general rise in the sector, with email marketing campaigns as a whole recording an increase of five per cent over the last four weeks.
The Retail Email Blog monitors the activity of the top 100 online retailers in the US. This select group sent an average of 2.4 promotional emails between 1st November and 7th November.
