The cream of the creative crop join together to celebrate the best internet marketing campaigns of 2007

The lavish surroundings of Sketch played host to the IAB Creative Showcase Grand Prix Awards 2007 - sponsored by Microsoft Digital Advertising Solutions, where digital agency Poke picked up the major award of the night for the Best Creative Campaign of 2007. Their award was the gold at the end of the rainbow, which they created for their highly original and interactive work on the 'Orange Unlimited' campaign. Their unlimited webpage featured an array of engaging features that rewarded the patient scroller and was a worthy winner.
Ahead of the handing out of the awards the nervous nominees and increasingly well-oiled creative types, clients and media owners were treated to a 360 degree projection showcasing the daring, original and innovative pieces of quality online creative from 2007. A real coup for the event saw guest speaker, Miles Beckett, creator of YouTube sensation, ‘lonelygirl15’ and Bebo’s ‘Kate Modern’, open proceedings. He spoke at length about the online mini-serials that have made such an impact online, from their conception through to their current status as major audience draws for the social networking giants.

Then the serious business of award presenting got underway with Poke’s triumph the first name out of the envelope.
Sony collected the IAB’s ‘Unthink your Brand’ advertiser award for their work with agency Dare Digital on the VAIO 'Online Script Project'. This campaign was judged by senior members of the IAB team to ‘represent a great commitment from the brand to fully embrace online, with excellent results.’ The adventurous idea saw budding writers given the chance to submit their script ideas to follow on from renowned actor John Malkovich’s initial beginning.
Agency of the year was awarded to glue London. 2007 represented yet another year of excellence from Mark Cridge’s boys and girls in glue. A regular on the monthly Creative Showcase Award podium, glue London’s groundbreaking work on the Royal Marines’ ‘State of Mind’, Virgin Trains’ – ‘Nature Speaks’ and Addidas – ‘Impossible Story’ campaigns saw them rightly recognised for yet another flawless year.

MDAS’s Most Innovative Campaign was presented to Tribal DDB for their 'Mid-Life Crisis Campaign' for the Volkswagen Passat. The humorous work centred around a fictional clinic called ‘The Retreat’, where men can be cured of their mid-life crisis, leaving them free to appreciate the understated style and integrity of a Volkswagen Passat.
Contagious Magazine sponsored the event this year and created a new category too, aptly named the Most Contagious Campaign. Poke made it a night to remember by picking up their second award of the night, again for Orange. The 'Spot the Bull' campaign encouraged music fans to pinpoint the whereabouts of an actual GPS enabled bull, wandering in a field for the chance to win Glastonbury tickets.
