Google to revamp homepage

05/01/2012

Google is currently in the process of revamping its search home page in a bid to make it simpler for consumers to use.

The new look, which will improve customer experience on the site, is only available to a limited number of users while it is being tested.

One of the main changes is that the current black strip at the top of the page will be replaced with a grey logo.

Users of the search engine will also be able to access Google's services through a drop-down menu under the logo.

Listed first is Google+, the search engine's social network, which has attracted over 65 million users since September, according to estimates by co-founder of Ancestry.com Paul Allen.

He has also calculated that the social network will have over 200 million users by the middle of the year if the current pace of growth continues. Mr Allen believes 625,000 people sign up every day.

Other services including Search, Maps and Gmail are also listed in the drop-down menu.
