Netflix is allowing users to create up to five profiles on one account so that content can be better tailored to each member of a household.
Each account has its own settings, viewing history and queues, which should mean that people who share accounts should be much more satisfied by the service.
"Members can create a separate ‘profile’ for each member of their household, who will each see a uniquely personalised experience based upon their individual watching habits, their personal favourite programmes and favourite genres, all driven by Netflix recommendation technology," Netflix has said.
Children in particular will be directed towards a 'Netflix Kids' area where they will find content suited for those aged 12 and under.
The profiles are to be rolled out gradually across the globe over the next two weeks and can be created on the Netflix website or through the PlayStation 3. However, some devices may not have the feature for a couple of months.
