O2 is to roll-out a service in the next few months that will allow customers to access their account information via Twitter.
A report by Marketing revealed that by using specially defined hashtags they will be able to see their data usage or how many minutes and texts they have left.
Sales and service director at O2 Feilim Mackle explained that the move has come about in response to how customers choose to engage with the brand on social networks.
"From information on service performance, to feedback on particular devices, the two way dialogue enables us to be agile when issues arise, as well as developing a closer relationship with our customers," said Mackle.
O2 has become famous for its laid-back demeanor on Twitter. Last month its social media team participated in a rap battle with its rival Tesco Mobile account, with some of the exchanges receiving hundreds of retweets.
