Online newspapers attracting more readers

Each of these users spent an average of 40.5 minutes on these sites over the course of the month.

The most popular online newspaper in Europe was the Daily Mail, as it attracted 17.2 million unique views, with visitors spending 25.9 minutes on the site on average.
It is also currently the second most popular online newspaper in the world.

The report found that the Guardian ranked second in Europe, with 13.5 million views throughout June.

This was followed by the German newspaper Bild, which witnessed 9.9 million views over the month.

Hurriyet and Millyet, Turkish newspapers, attracted 9.5 million and 8.8 million visitors respectively to finish the top five.

Online newspapers may be gaining traffic as a recent survey by askmen.com found that 71 per cent of young men in the UK prefer to read their news online.
