The Daily now available in the UK

The iPad app launched in the US seven months ago and it is thought to have been available in the UK for the last week, despite no formal announcement being made.

It costs 69p per day or £27.99 for an annual subscription for the newspaper that can only be downloaded and read on iPads.

However, the app has been met with some criticism as the newspaper has not been localised for a UK audience.

In this week's edition, there are stories about Republican party politics, a fire in Minnesota and news about Scarlett Johansson's phone being hacked.

One reviewer wrote: "The writing is strong and I've been impressed especially with the 9/11 articles," quotes the Guardian.

Rupert Murdoch, head of News Corporation, has reportedly invested $30 million (£19 million) into the venture.

When the newspaper was announced at the end of last year, it was reported that the Daily would have a "tabloid sensibility with a broadsheet intelligence".
