Twitter is on course to launch its online advertising services in the UK this October, as the social network finalises its brand partners.
The micro-blogging site will offer brands the opportunity to pay for promoted tweets, trends and accounts to be displayed on UK pages, reports Media Week.
Promoted tweets appear in users' timelines, while promoted trends are paid for subjects that will appear as a trending topic.
Meanwhile, promoted accounts are listed as a suggested page to follow for consumers who may be interested in what the company sells.
These online advertising services promise to make it easier for brands to create targeted campaigns, as the ads users' see are based on their followers and who they follow.
Promoted tweets, trends and accounts were launched in the US in April 2010 and have proved successful.
A recent study by eMarketer found that 24.8 per cent of Americans have seen a promoted tweet relevant to them, while 21.6 per cent have obtained a discount and 21.2 per cent have found out about a new brand.
