Channel 4 will have its own branded section on video sharing website YouTube after the two organisations came to an agreement, which will see the television network's shows broadcast online at the Google owned site.
The area of YouTube dedicated to television channel will look similar to the Channel 4 website, where web users are already able to view programmes.
Advertising will be sold around the content, although the exact financial details of the deal have not been disclosed.
Furthermore, the television channel will sell advertising around video content that it has not uploaded.
People will now be able to tune in to shows such as Hollyoaks and The Inbetweeners online and free of charge.
Nikesh Arora, president of global sales operations and business development for Google, claims that Channel 4 has always been "at the forefront of new uses of YouTube", which has helped attract viewers and make the company money in the process.
"This significant new agreement brings Channel 4's great full length content to the YouTube community, helping Channel 4 to grow their online revenues and to continue to invest in the creation of high quality original content," he adds.
Meanwhile, a recent assessment of the US online video market by digital analyst comScore found that use of such a service reached an all time high in August, with 25 billion online videos viewed during the course of the month.
