IAB Unthink Your Brand Advertiser Award

Opportunities for creativity are constantly developing in this ever evolving industry of ours. To celebrate the advances and outstanding creativity of some particularly expanding digital disciplines the IAB and Microsoft Advertising have decided to do something extra special with our Creative Showcase Grand Prix this year.

This time around we’re going that extra mile to soak up all of that exceptional creativity the UK digital industry boasts, with the introduction of 4 brand new creativity inspired awards, Mobile, Social Media, Gaming and Video. With each award judged by a panel of industry experts, our winners will help us showcase the very best creative work, to show brands where they should be allocating their budgets in 2010.

We know you’ve all been producing great creative work, so this is your chance to really shout about it. For more information on each one of the awards, and what we’re looking for please see below.

Creativity in Social Media Award - celebrating the excellent creativity and execution of a social media campaign
Much has been made of the rise and rise of social media, but what clients are calling out for is really great work, creative benchmarks and original ideas that will engage consumers. The Creativity in Social Media Award is a measurement-free zone. The ‘results’ debate has been put to one side, as what we’re looking for is that stand-out campaign with social media at its core. Has the client displayed a firm understanding of social media and the creative problems it can solve? Did the social media activity serve to boost the brand in an innovative way? The winning campaign will be something that the industry as a whole should be proud of.

Creativity in Game Advertising Award - celebrating the creativity and execution of a gaming campaign
Computer games have appealed to the hearts and minds of consumers for almost half a century, and as advertising has crept in over the years there has existed a real need to make marketing around or in games as uninterruptive and authentic as possible to ensure gamers don’t get scared away. Still a space that has yet to achieve its fullest potential in the UK, we’re looking for our entrants to show the rest of the industry how it’s done. Does the creative execution complement the game play? Does it benefit the gamer in some way, either by adding a reward to adding to the experience? Does gaming feel like the right space for this brand to be in? Does it suit the intended demographic and make the most of the creative opportunities within this discipline?

Creativity in Online Video Award - celebrating the creativity and execution of an online video campaign
Creativity in video isn’t just a case of putting your TV ads online. The really great stuff uses the medium for what it’s best for - making the executions interactive, engaging and wowing the consumer with quality branded content. The winning campaign will be thought-provoking, attention-grabbing and tailored to the medium. The video campaign should perfectly match the brand’s personality and values, but with that added digital ‘twist’? Does it boast charm, an outstanding creative idea and production values to match?

Creativity in Mobile Award - celebrating the creativity and execution of a mobile campaign
In 2010 we really want to put mobile creativity on the map, showcasing the best work out there produced by some of the UK’s most forward thinking agencies. Whilst still a relatively young medium, worth £26.8 million in 2008, mobile represents a vast, rich space that marketers can use to charm the consumer when their on-the-move. We already know that mobile can be great for building brands – but do you have that winning example? Much like the Creative Showcase Awards have always been, we’re looking for the most inspiring, innovative, exceptionally creative mobile execution. This award will go to a brand that has wholeheartedly embraced the medium, with a campaign that makes best use of the medium and seeks to effectively engage the mobile consumer.
