Edwards will be responsible for leading the council throughout the next 12 months.
He will be in charge of driving the council in the right direction in order to further develop and expand on their achievements from 2009 which included the launch of the ethical merchant charter and clear voucher guidelines.
The AMC is made up of a combination of networks, merchants, agencies and publishers and has been running since 2006. Its main aims for 2010 are to further educate the industry, to build on current self regulation initiatives as well as showcasing great affiliate marketing case studies and best practice.
Edwards will be taking over from Matt Bailey, head of affiliate marketing at i-level, who has been AMC chair for the past 12 months.
Discussing his appointment, Edwards said: "I’m honoured to take up the Chair of the Affiliate Marketing Council in 2010. The Council made significant collaborative progress last year with guidelines for both advertisers and affiliates and I’ve every confidence this will continue.
"An ongoing focus on best practice and educating a wider audience about affiliate marketing’s strengths should see the industry move further into the mainstream and occupy the position it rightfully deserves."
Dan Redfearn, membership manager at the IAB, adds: "I’m delighted to welcome Kevin as the 2010 Affiliate Marketing chair. Following on from a phenomenal 2009, the council has a great opportunity to build on these achievements and create a more robust self regulatory framework whilst shouting about the great work and initiatives that make the affiliate marketing industry so dynamic and innovative."
